Document Handling

For paper based document collections there is almost always the need to make the documents “scanner ready” or more commonly referred to as “document preparation”. Removing binding, clips, staples, handling post-it notes, etc. While this may appear as a very obvious step in the conversion process, it is also a very important one, and must be performed correctly.

Image Capture / Scanning

Utilizing specialized scanners and software, Docucon captures images from paper documents of any size, microfilm, (16m& 35mm), microfiche, aperture cards, and engineering drawings. Image clean up and presentation functions such as, cropping, de-skewing, rotation, blank back-side removal, and de-speckling are tailored to the specifications of each client’s requirements.

Indexing

Reliable retrieval of digital data is one of the primary objectives in any document management solution. Docucon manages this critical function through comprehensive operator training to each client’s indexing specification and rigid quality assurance checks to ensure conformance to any specified level of accuracy.

Text Capture & Clean Up

Unintelligent text found within each scanned image file is converted into intelligent (ASCII) text using state of the art Optical Character Recognition (OCR) engines. Each page of raw ASCII text is subjected to multiple visual and electronic checks to ensure accuracy with it’s printed counterpart. Once through the Clean Up process the captured data can be organized for use by full text search software or desktop applications such as publishing or word processing.

e-Publishing and Mark Up Languages

For organizations wanting to maximize the benefits of e-publishing, inter-active electronic publications (IETM’s), or other forms of document life-cycle management, Docucon converts hard copy and/or electronic documents to a number of specialized formats such as: Markup Languages (SGML, HTML, XML), Framemaker, and others.
